Korean Marathon

Hearing constructive criticisms from many people with reference to Korean drama has thrilled me to give it a shot. For the past few weeks, I was able to watch at least 3 drama series and 3 movies as well (not bad for such an enthusiast newbie like me) There are essentially 4 major factors that I noticed why Asian Drama is considered to be a phenomenal punch in the market.
  1. HISTORICAL and ETHNIC CORRELATION: Dramas were effectively outlined from past dynasties to pre-historic wars of Korea, portraying different classical characters. Profound remorse and bravery in every battle are being emphasized in each plot.
  2. FAMILIAL BOND: Relationship among the members of the family is highly important in Korea. Respect to elders is evident in every series making then well known for their strong family bond. A special holiday is also an opportunity for them to recreate since most of the characters play a busy role in the society. Making their homes as part of the social system is part of the bigger concept.
  3. COMEDY: Korean comical genre is famous for its vulgar use of words and trivial physical abuse. It will be traced back to its historical background since Korean wars created terrible scars to many, thus producing an adaptive behavior – comedy.
  4. DRAMA/ ROMANCE: Korean drama will not be considered “Korean “without a love story involved. Their way of teasing its audience with superb drama to light comedy then eventually will run down to a cute love story or love triangle is truly wonderful.
Korean Drama is a complete package for me. The surprise I get in the middle or at the end of the story is something to be crazy about. I think it suits the needs of every fan since it has a wide collection of shows to choose from. Melodrama type is for those who really want to shed some tears while light comical romance would give you a light and nice feeling (kilig factor.) War movies are also worth a try – friendship and heroism are some of the values one could learn. Not to mention the wonderful soundtracks included in every movie/series - truly, I am hooked^^
- Aja!Aja! Fighting!
